Making math magical for kids everywhere!
About
Math Masters
How it all started
From a single idea to a global adventure
Sometimes ideas aren’t born at a desk, but in the silence of the morning.
I was inspired to create Math Masters on an ordinary summer day in August 2024. The sun was shining through the curtains, birds were whistling their song… and suddenly the idea was there!
A board game where children and adults can enjoy mental arithmetic. Where not only the right answer counts, but also courage, speed and a bit of magic.
Knowing that only 30% of Dutch school children are reaching their target in math, I imagined a world where children don’t sigh and struggle when they have to do math, but beg for another game! A game where grandma joins in too, and your mind grows sharp from playing.
From that moment on, it was no longer a question of whether Math Masters would be made, but how!

Nox' review points:
- The “racing element” in Math Masters creates a constant urge to reach the finish faster and faster. This element makes the math problems feel secondary, allowing players to solve them playfully and naturally. It’s a clever mechanic, seamlessly woven into the game.
- The large number of problems solved along the way creates small moments of success, which generate a positive feeling – you’re almost always moving forward, and victory feels within reach.
- It’s fun to see that the children Bastiaan Nox played Math Masters with absolutely loved it. They keep coming back to play it again and again.
- Math Masters makes mental math genuinely enjoyable, because every problem you solve brings you closer to the finish line. Bastiaan Nox is impressed by how the creators of Math Masters managed to build a game that makes kids excited to do math – and to keep doing it.
- Math Masters is a truly excellent game in the educational category.
- Math Masters game mechanics are stronger than the sense of “having to do math”, which makes it enjoyable educational entertainment for both young and old.
- As a final score, Math Masters receives an 8 out of 10, with the comment: Very good, I like it and I definitely recommend it.
Loved by Kids.

How teachers and professionals react on Math Masters
The response to Math Masters in Dutch classrooms was overwhelmingly positive during our many rounds of testing. Teachers saw their students not only enjoy calculating, but also work together, reason out loud, help each other and sometimes even ask for extra calculation time. This shows students gaining confidence and working to overcome a fear of math. Students encouraged each other to make the correct calculation, rather than shaming or mocking wrong attempts
This playful approach to learning, with an imaginative theme and two levels of difficulty made the game suitable for both weak and strong calculators. We were very pleased to hear the children ask afterwards: “When are we going to play it again?”
Teacher Joris, grade 6 (9-10 years old)
Teacher Els, grade 7 (10-11 years old)
“Math Masters is magical. The children not only enjoy it, they really learn from it! Students practice sums without it feeling like they have to. I saw a girl who normally has trouble with math come to life. Now she no longer feels any shame around math.
And the great thing is: you can differentiate by choosing the easy or difficult side of the board.”
Teacher Bram, math specialist
“What struck me was the combination of math skills and fun. It is rare to come across an educational game that is so well put together. It works as a cooperative and competitive game. Commitment, involvement and self-confidence increased visibly. This is a really useful tool for primary schools.”
Teacher Fatima, school principal
“From the moment we started playing, the children were completely engrossed. Even the students with math anxiety participated without shame.
Because students have to calculate out loud, a different dynamic is created: playful and educational. I want to use this game structurally in the math corner next year.”
